Hikers are wanted in the Bob Marshall Wilderness this weekend as the Wilderness Foundation is hosting a volunteer trails event.

It will take place at the Stanton Lake Trail in the Great Bear Wilderness south of Glacier National Park from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Volunteers will help with seasonal upkeep, clearing logs and brush, as well as other trail maintenance.

Program Manager Rebecca Powell says the event is part of National Trails Day, which is a long-standing national celebration of America's magnificent trail system.

"You know we partner with the forest service, and identify trails that need some additional help, and we recruit volunteers to come help us out in the wilderness with maintaining trails," he explained.

Powell added that there will be a barbecue for all of the volunteers at the end of the day at the Hungry Horse Ranger Station.
