WASHINGTON - Montana Senator Jon Tester is teaming up with Republican Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas in an effort to strengthen gun rights.
"Now we're urging the Supreme Court to make a decision so that our Second Amendment rights apply, regardless of where we live in this country," Tester explained in a press release.
Tester and Hutchison wrote a friend-of-the-court brief in support of stronger gun rights last Fall and some 309 members of Congress signed onto the measure.
"We've successfully strengthened gun rights over the last few years. And we've done it by working together, and as far as I'm concerned, putting gun rights above party politics. Now we're urging the Supreme Court to make a decision so that our Second Amendment rights apply, regardless of where we live in this country."
Back in 2008, Tester and Hutchison also led the successful effort in Congress to ask the Supreme Court to strike down Washington DC's ban on firearms.
