ST. IGNTAIUS- Residents in the Lake County town of St. Ignatius gathered on Saturday to show support their local firefighters.
The Volunteer Fire Department hosted its 18th Annual Fireman's Picnic that serves as the department's only annual fundraiser.
There were plenty of activities for children including an inflatable slide, face painting and pictures with Monte the UM.
The event ran all afternoon and included a dinner, raffle and auction. "It's a community event. We draw about 600 people, cook a whole beef, four hogs, 30 turkeys, 400 hot dogs, and we have an auction, event chairman Tim Mitchell explained.
Fire department officials told us they hope to bring in anywhere from $18,000 to $25,000 from the picnic with the money to be used for new equipment, trucks and training.
