MISSOULA - It doesn't take a degree in Meteorology to figure out that the last two weeks have been wet, but what might surprise you is just how much rain we've actually received.
Over the 14 day period from May 27th through June 9th, Missoula received 2.77 inches of precipitation. In June alone 1.91 inches of rain has fallen which is already close to a quarter of an inch more than we see in Missoula for the entire month in a normal year.
On May 26th, we had our largest precipitation deficit in 2010 at 1.57 inches off the average. As of Thursday morning, we had a surplus of 35-hundredths of an inch. Missoula has also received measurable rainfall 12 of the last 14 days.
Western Montana's rivers and streams have felt the impact of the persistent heavy rains. Several Flood Watches have been issued over the last week and the ground continues to be near the saturation point in many low-lying areas.
The weekend forecast is promising drier conditions and warmer temperatures.
