(CNN) -- Three people were killed and a fourth critically injured in a shooting at the University of Alberta in Edmonton in Canada early Friday, police said.
Robbery appears to be the motive, Edmonton police spokesman Scott Pattison said.
An emergency notice by the university described the crime as an armored car robbery.
Police were called to the campus and found three bodies and a fourth victim with life-threatening injuries, police said.
The area where the shootings occurred remained closed off, but the university said exams and other university business will proceed as scheduled.
Police did not immediately release the names of the victims, pending notification of next of kin.
CNN affiliate CTV reported that none of the victims were students.
