MISSOULA- It's just about that time of the year when you might want to start thinking about flu shots. Last year that meant anyone under the age of 18 needed an appointment with a physician to get their shots, but that all changed starting October 1st.
Since the last legislative session, pharmacists can provide that service to anyone 12 and older.
Eastgate Drug in Missoula is one place offering the vaccination to the public, no appointments necessary.
Pharmacist intern Kalena Vanleuven says walk-ins and extended hours at the pharmacy help busy people, and busy parents make sure they can get the vaccine. "It's going to be a lot more convenient and accessible for our community and as health care professionals, that's primarily our goal is to protect the community and keep it healthy. And the more immunizations we can get out there, the better chance we have in keeping our community from the flu epidemic," she said.
Vanleuven said people need to make sure they aren't sick before they come in and try to get the vaccine. Remember to bring your immunization card and insurance card.
If you don't have insurance, the vaccines are $25.
