HELENA - Earlier this year the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education and the Office of Public Instruction gave more than 5,200 Montana seniors the chance to have a college application fee waived or deferred.
About 34% of those students took advantage of the opportunity; there were 1,777 waived or deferred applications submitted.
Throughout Montana, 80 high schools participated.
The colleges receiving the most of those applications were University of Montana with 554, and Montana State University with 405.
Next year the two offices intend to open College Application Week to every public high school in the state.
