(EAST MISSOULA)- One person is dead after a car flipped over on Interstate 90 just east of Missoula around 1:30 this afternoon.
Montana Highway Patrol troopers are still investigating, but say it appears the vehicle went out of control as it was headed eastbound on Interstate 90, rolling over and landing in the westbound lanes.
Missoula County Sheriff's deputies confirmed one person was dead as a result of the accident, identifying the victim as a 31-year old woman from Milltown.
The crash happened just east of the East Missoula exit, and troopers and deputies had to divert all of the westbound traffic off the freeway between East Missoula and Bonner, sending cars onto Highway 200. At one point about half-an-hour after the accident traffic was backed up all the way to Turah.
Eastbound traffic was down to a single lane.
There was no immediate word on the cause of the accident. No one else was in the car and no other vehicles were involved.
