KALISPELL- Teachers at Elrod Elementary School in Kalispell say social development is an important part of a student's academic success. But until now, staff members often used their own money to finance programs often overlooked.
Montana's News Station has teamed up with Allegiant Benefit Management to make sure teachers can continue one of Elrod's most successful programs.
The project encourages students to work together by building different lego models and school officials say the grant will help fund this innovative program for years, helping to improve participation and academic skills.
"We would eventually graduate students out of these kinds of programs. They would just move on because they're given the schools to be successful later on. And the sustainability part about this is being able to then offer this to other students," Elrod Elementary School Principal Jeff Hornby said.
About 40 students participate in Elrod Elementary School's social groups each year. Click here to learn more about the One Class at a Time program.
