WHITEFISH - It's been quite a week for the United States youngest Olympian.
Maggie Voisin, 15, of Whitefish waited through an excruciating day before finding out she made the Olympic team -and that happened while she was preparing to debut at her sports other big stage.
Voisin's biggest dream was always to compete in the XGames. She's down in Aspen right now, and will make her first runs on Sunday. Slopestyle joins the Olympics for the first time next month, so now she gets to do both.
Voisin first starting skiing at the World Cup level this winter. Now she's the youngest US Winter Olympian in 42 years.
"You know, it makes me really proud," said Voisin when asked what that fact meant to her. "Looking back when I was like 12, I mean I never would have expected this, you know three years later. I can't believe my first XGames and my first Olympics are all in the same year. So I mean obviously I want to do the best that I can, but I just want to keep having fun. That's what it's all about. That's why I love freeskiing."
Spoken like a true teenager. Voisin will leave for Sochi next Wednesday.
