WEST YELLOWSTONE- The addition of a new county building in West Yellowstone could mean life or death for some people.
West Yellowstone's brand new Gallatin County Search and Rescue building officially opened on Wednesday after spending years in the making.
A day of celebration as dozens gathered to welcome the new building into the West Yellowstone community.
The new facility is the last of three n the county that will be used to house all of the equipment and people needed during search and rescue operations.
The new facility located in the heart of where many of those search and rescue calls is a tremendous benefit to the county. Team members that are using this equipment to respond to search and rescue calls, are all volunteers.
The volunteer team responds to an average of 100 calls per year across the county, so having a building like this one to use as a base of operations and hold their equipment is a great benefit.
