The identities of the two people killed on Highway 2 in Northwest Montana Tuesday afternoon have been released.
The Montana Highway Patrol says 59 year old Randy Burningham and his wife Brenda of Salem, Oregon died when their motorcycle collided with a pickup truck pulling a camper trailer.
MHP Trooper Jon Underwood says the pickup was turning left into the campground on Logan Drive in the Thompson Lake area at the same time Burningham was passing in a legal passing zone.
MHP says Burningham locked the rear brake and attempted an evasive maneuver to the left but lost control of the motorcycle causing it to slide into the driver's side of the pick-up.
The couple were ejected and died on the scene. Both were wearing helmets.
The occupants in the pickup were not injured.
MHP says alcohol use and speed are not considered contributing factors in the crash pending toxicology results from the state medical examiner's office.
