KALISPELL - The date that Flathead Lake reaches full pool may be determined by just how much - or little - flooding the Flathead Valley sees this spring.
Officials with the Bonneville Power Administration, Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes and the Army Corps of Engineers recently met - and one of the topics covered was utilizing Hungry Horse and Kerr Dams to control flooding this spring.
June 15 is the scheduled date for Flathead Lake to reach full pool, which is 2,893 feet. BPA officials say the lake will sit at around 2,890 feet by the end of May.
They say the plan is to keep flow levels coming out of the Hungry Horse Dam low enough to leave room on the Flathead River for possible flooding.
