MISSOULA- The Montana Republican convention is kicked off at the Missoula's Hilton Garden Inn on Thursday.
The Republican Party will be making changes to its platform and will elect delegates to the Republican National Convention over the next three days.
All of the recently nominated Republican candidates will speak at the convention and one of their core messages will be less government and more jobs in Montana.
"Republicans are focused on getting government out-of-the-way so small businesses and jobs can grow in the state. And Democrats want more of the heavy hand of the government involved with people's everyday lives," Montana Republican Party Communications Director Chris Shipp explained.
"And you can tell from the primary elections that we recently had, that that's not what Montanans want. Montanans turned out in overwhelming numbers to vote on the Republican primary ballots and we're really encouraged by that," he continued.
The featured speakers include Congressman Denny Rehberg who's running for the U.S. Senate and former presidential candidate Newt Gingrich. Rehberg will speak Friday night and Gingrich will speak Saturday morning.
