BILLINGS - A Billings area family lost their home for the second time in less than three years, this time to fire. The Christensen family was not at home when the fire started around 5 p.m. Monday, and the blaze left the family home a total loss.
Unfortunately, it's a familiar feeling for the Christensens. In June 2010, the Father's Day tornado storm sent a torrent of water through the Christensen's basement. Neighbors and friends came together to help the family clean out the basement after the Christensens learned the damage was not covered by insurance.
Now the family is looking to the community for help a second time around. Donations to help out the Christensens can be made at any Wells Fargo Bank where an account has been set up in the Christensen family name.
The cause of Monday's fire is still under investigation but Blue Creek Fire Chief Rick Cortez said it appears the blaze started in the shop area of the garage. At this time, Cortez says nothing on scene appears suspicious. The Christensen family has three young boys, ages 5, 8 and 10.
