A woman who's accused of hitting and killing a man more than two years ago in East Missoula is now in jail for violating court rules. Katie Garding of Stevensville has been out on special court conditions, but the prosecutor in the case says Garding admitted to smoking marijuana four times in July and driving while her license is suspended. Garding faces three felony charges in connection with the January 2008 death of 25-year-old Bronson Parsons.
Doctors have saved the leg of a 14-year-old Stevensville boy who's battling a rare form of bone cancer. Tyler Hennes was diagnosed with Osteosacoma back in May after he tripped on the playground, fell and broke the fibula bone in his leg. Tyler Hennes went in for surgery Tuesday morning and doctors were able to remove his fibula and the tumor.
Recent storms that have hit Chouteau County have caused sprouting damage on wheat crops could reduce the price of winter wheat by 25 cents to 50 cents per bushel. While this year's harvest season was a little wetter than those past, one farmer says it hasn't been bad enough to severely impact most farms in the area.
Congressman Denny Rehberg held a discussion session with top officials of the Montana Farm Bureau on Wednesday in Bozeman. The small group spoke for about an hour on a range of hot button issues including the recently passed healthcare reform bill and stimulus package, were not directly related to agriculture but a consistent theme ran throughout.
High school students in Montana can now learn to speak, read and write Chinese thanks to a free online course being offered by the Confucius Institute at the University of Montana and the Montana Digital Academy. The language class free of charge to all high school students across the state and includes private or home schools.

Three unclaimed Powerball prizes in Montana, totaling $450,000, are set to expire this month. Unless they are claimed, the prize money will be transferred to the State of Montana General Fund. $200,000 winning tickets sold in Miles City and Shelby are set to expire, as is a $50,000 ticket that was purchased in Fairfield.
