MISSOULA- Western Montana's relatively quiet winter is about to be shaken up with several feet of snow expected to fall in the mountains throughout the week. The National Weather Service office in Missoula has issued several watches and warnings for the area.
SIDNEY- There have been some more developments in the Sherry Arnold case. The FBI says they believe Arnold is dead but her body has not been recovered and they are asking property owners in North Dakota and extreme northeastern Montana to check their land for her body.
LIBBY- A 29-year-old man was struck and killed by a Burlington Northern Santa Fé train late Saturday night in northwest Montana. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office reports that they were told just before midnight by a BNSF agent that a westbound train had struck a pedestrian in the area of the East 5th Street Extension.
WEST GLACIER- A Kalispell couple spent the night huddled closely together hoping to be found after losing their way in the back country of Glacier National Park. The two were cross country skiing in the North Fork area of the park when they lost their way.
MISSOULA- Protesters with Occupy Missoula split over removal of that controversial camp on the courthouse lawn, with the main leaders of the group saying they're no longer involved with the encampment. The camp, first erected back in early October as part of the general "Occupy Missoula" movement, has become more of a problem as the weeks have dragged on.
MISSOULA- The University of Montana's Office for Civic Engagement is hosting a clothing drive today in conjunction with the Martin Luther King Jr. Day activities that are scheduled in Missoula. The clothing drive will take place during the Martin Luther King Jr. Day rally, which starts at 5 p.m. in Caras Park in downtown Missoula.
DARBY- The snow may be scarce in much of the state, but the weather out by Darby is a whole different story. And this year brought out record numbers for the Darby Dog Derby. as 24 sled dog teams came out to race, some coming from as far away as Massachusetts.
MISSOULA- The biggest game of the season so far didn't go the Grizzlies way. Montana's men made the always difficult trip to Weber State carrying a perfect 4-0 record in Big Sky play while the Wildcats brought a 5-0 mark into the showdown. The Griz kept it close at first, and led by two 10 minutes into the game, but then the Wildcats finished the first half on a 30-15 run and the Griz never got closer than 8 down the stretch.
