MISSOULA- Saint Joseph School eight grade student Rosie McCormack is taking her talent all the way to the nation's capitol.

McCormack traveled to Billings on March 30th and came back with first place trophy for the statewide geography bee.

She beat out 100 other students to earn the honor and the self-described over achiever was thrilled about earning this state title, especially since she didn't even make it to the finals of school bee the previous year.

McCormack told us that this time around it took a little extra work.

"I was thinking, 'you know, I should probably study if I really want to do well, I can't just wing this'. I found some apps and some games that are related, and I studied them and they really helped. I would have never gotten this far if I hadn't studied," she explained.

The National Geography Bee will be held from May 22 to May 24 in Washington, DC.
