ROCK CREEK- Investigators believe the Missoula man who was killed by a train Sunday at around 5 a.m. may have been sleeping on the tracks, according to the Missoula County Sheriff's Office.
The state medical examiner's office is trying to identify the man through dental records and while investigators say since there are no witnesses, they believe he fell asleep on the tracks, based on evidence found at the scene.
"Later it was discovered, underneath the train when it was inspected in Plains, that there was a part of a sleeping bag attached to the train and some body matter," Missoula County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Jason Johnson said.
He said the victim was probably attending the Love Your Mother Earth Arts and Culture Festival near Rock Creek. The Sheriff's Office asks anyone who might have witnessed this accident to call (406) 258.4810.
