WOODS BAY - Flathead Lake Brewery, which recently opened a Missoula location, announced it's launching new labels designed by a Missoula artist.

The growing brewery, which fittingly overlooks Flathead Lake, is changing the labels for flagship brews like the Centennial IPA, Brown Ale, and Two Rivers Pale Ale.

Marketing director Blake Nicolazzo said they would have done it sooner, but they had bigger business to attend to.

"The company started and we had this cool artist out of Bozeman, do the original logo, and then in the meantime, we focused on making beer," Nicolazzo said.

Flathead brews everything from Wild Mile Wheat to the The Dirty Ginger strong Belgian-style ale. Nicolazzo said business is booming, and it's time to mirror that in the look of the labels.

"With the demand increasing, you know we're really at capacity at this point and we felt like it would be fun to just really lighten up the labels, make 'em bold, make 'em colorful," he said.

Missoula artist Anneke Ayers, who also designs concert flyers, created the vibrant new labels. The new labels won't appear on bottles in stores until roughly mid-July, when the old ones run out.
