MISSOULA - Missoula School Superintendent Alex Apostle says that Missoula will soon be the best school district in the state thanks to a trio of current initiatives.
The three initiatives are Graduation Matters Missoula, 21st Century Schools, and Student Achievement. Apostle told the Committee of the Whole last year that he needed $150,000 to hire a consultant to improve the district.
MCPS was able to raise $120,000 with donations from community members and businesses and Apostle says Missoula's support has been huge in the districts success.
"Denise Juneau has followed the Missoula County Public Schools in making Graduation Matters Missoula a state initiative, Graduation Matters Montana. She's also pushing hard to make Montana a 21st Century state in terms of education, so we must be doing something right."
He added that the results of a report performed by the consultant should be finished soon and that it will help education officials come up with a plan for 21st century education in Missoula.
