UPDATE: MISSOULA- A Missoula County man took his own life on Friday evening on Highway 10 West near the Missoula International Airport.
The Missoula County Sheriff Department reports that the victim, whose name and age has not been released, had been sending suicidal text messages to his wife in the Arlee area.
Authorities were on the lookout for the man after being told he had a gun and he was found after coming down U.S. Highway 93 North into the Missoula area.
Sergeant Kennedy shooting says when they tried to pull over the victim's car, the driver continued on for about a mile before coming to a stop on U.S. Highway 10 West near Roller Coaster Road at around 9:30 p.m.
We're told that as authorities approached the vehicle they heard a pop and discovered that the man had taken his own life.
The Montana Highway Patrol, Missoula County Sheriff's Department, Airport Police and the Missoula Rural Fire District all responded to the scene.

MISSOULA- Several law enforcement agencies are currently on the scene of what appears to be a shooting death along Highway 10 West near the Missoula International Airport.
The incident happened at around 9:30 p.m. Friday in the area of Roller Coaster Road. Reporter Robin O'Day is on the scene and we'll have more information as it becomes available.
