MISSOULA - In light of the recent rape allegations at the University of Montana, we spoke with one local agency who says they are waiting for more victims to come forward.

On Wednesday, a private investigator for the University identified 9 sexual assault allegations.

The Crime Victim Advocate group in Missoula says sexual assaults are common and most Missoulians would be surprised to know how many women report sexual assaults in the community.

Supervisor Jenny Daniel says if victims come forward, perpetrators are more likely to be convicted, but often, the stereotype in society is to accuse the victim for having played a role in the crime.

Daniel says there could be several more women who are victims but have yet to speak out.

"I think other agencies as well as us, think that maybe that this is going to silence some of the victims and they won't come forward or will be fearful to come forward. I think law enforcement will be afraid of that as well. I think we are all just kind of waiting."

If you have been a victim of sexual assault, contact law enforcement or the Crime Victim Advocates.
