HELENA - The Montana Board of Land Commissioners voted unanimously on Tuesday morning to allow the expansion of the Bull Mountain coal mine in Musselshell County.
Signal Peak Energy asked for board approval to expand the mine's footprint onto more state land.
The Land Board is comprised of Governor Steve Bullock, Attorney General Tim Fox, Commissioner of Securities and Insurance Monica Lindeen, Secretary of State Linda McCulloch, and Superintendent of Public Instruction Denise Juneau.
"Our vote means at least another decade of secure employment and family wage jobs for 325 Montanans. Those jobs pay over $40 million per year in salaries and benefits," Montana Attorney General Tim Fox said in a news release.
