POLSON- A Lake County man who has been designated as a Sexually Violent Predator is behind bars after failing to register his current address.
Lake County Undersheriff Dan Yonkin says that Phillip James Pierce, Jr. was arrested in the Polson area on Thursday after officers checked two different residence in attempt to find Pierce.
Yonkin says in a news release that the Lake County Sheriff's Office has been working to update their Sexual and Violent Offender Registry.
Deputies have been checking the homes of over 30 Lake County offenders who "were considered non-compliant for various reasons." according to Yonkin.
The US Marshals Service and the Montana Department of Criminal Investigations teamed up with Lake County officers on Thursday to take a closer look at the noncompliant registrants.
Yonkin says four of the 26 noncompiant Violent Offenders were found and are now in compliance while all seven of the noncompliant Sex Offenders were found and are also now in compliance with state law.
The Lake County Sheriff's Officer reports that over 150 registered violent and sexual offenders call Lake County home. More information on the registry can be found here.
