MISSOULA - Tons of kids gathered in the University of Montana Oval for the 13th annual Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday.
The Oval was packed with 20,000 eggs for the estimated 2,000 children ages nine and younger to find as part of one of the largest easter egg hunts in the region.
Marcus Shimek, 6, says that this is his favorite time of year. "What I like most about easter is putting up easter decorations."
Organizer Andrea Lewis who works for UM's University Relations she says this years hunt was great for the university.
"It's an event that always draws a large crowd and it's a great opportunity for families and Missoula to come together for a day and you can't complain about the weather so it think it was a success."
Candy was not the only thing inside easter eggs, with some containing prizes like 12 week dance classes and even bicycles.
The Eggstravaganza also brought out the Easter Bunny and Monte for kids to meet.
Samara Smalls came down to the egg hunt not to pick up easter eggs, but rather give one to the Bunny itself. "I had an egg for him I forgot to bring it but I lost it so I am going to bring it next Easter.
Jamie Johnson, who brought four young boys to the egg hunt, says they enjoyed this years event.
"It's amazing it brings lot of people together and there were some many sponsors to it. It's great to have the whole community come together and it happen on a great spring day.
Even after the egg hunt was over for the day, kids like Mason Shimek were excited for what Easter day holds.
"Tomorrow I am going to get candy all over the house and I also hear that if you open eggs in the easter trail you'll find candy inside."
The Sweets Barn in Lolo was one of the many sponsors, and donated 30,000 pieces of candy.
