KALISPELL- A Kalispell sporting goods franchise says they plan to expand and as reporter Dax VanFossen found out, the folks at Sportsman's Ski Haus say despite the economy, business is booming.
Sportsman's Ski Haus plans on building on the land next to their property in Kalispell, making it an 80,000 square foot business. Business Chief Executive officer Mike Gwiazdon says they have bought a 25,000 square foot property that borders the current building.
The sporting goods store, which has expanded to Idaho as well, plans on making the footwear and clothing operation, which has proved to be very profitable for the store, bigger. Other areas will also grow, including the gun department, athletic goods and exercise equipment.
Gwiazdon says the business has seen a good number of profits from Canadian tourism, which he estimates to account for between 20% and 30% of all of their business.
The construction on the expanded store will take place between Sportsman's Ski Haus and Kalispell's Signature Theatres. The work is expected to take about eight months to get rolling, which places it somewhere around July of 2013.
