KALISPELL- Since Glacier High School and Edgerton Elementary School have been added to the list, the entire school district is now eligible for Title I funding.
The funding provides financial aid to schools with a high percentage of students from low-income families.
Priority goes to the students most at risk of failing, though Kalispell Assistant superintendent Dan Zorn says the funding is not based on failure rate, it's based on the district's free and reduced lunch count.
Zorn the student poverty level has risen from 25 to 45 percent in just six years, and believes this funding will make a big difference at each school.
"Generally what you'll find is as poverty levels increase, student achievement levels drop," Zorn said. "That has not been the case in our district. We bucked that trend and it's something that we feel really good about, and our Title I funds have helped us to do that."
