KALISPELL - Construction at two Kalispell schools could be getting underway this summer after the Kalispell School Board accepted bids for two improvement projects.
One is at Legends Stadium, where the track will be resurfaced. The lowest bid for the project came in at just under $135,000 from Triton Construction out of Marion.
The hope is to add a javelin runway for an additional $4,200, but the currently proposed location isn't going to work.
"The location of that runway interferes with the practice football field for Flathead High School," superintendent Darlene Schottle said.
School officials say they are still looking for alternate locations for a javelin runway.
The other construction bid item up for approval was for a new central kitchen for the elementary schools.
"Through a bond that was passed last fall, we are building a new elementary central kitchen. And the new elementary central kitchen will be located in front of Kalispell Middle School and it will serve all of our elementary schools," Schottle told us.
The lowest bid came in at $1.2 million from Meredith Construction for the building and all the kitchen equipment.
Both construction bids were accepted by the board on a unanimous vote.
