KALISPELL- Authorities are investigating a fatal accident where a pedestrian was hit by two vehicles on U.S. Highway 93 North near Kalispell late Sunday night.

Montana Highway Patrol dispatchers tell us the incident happened at around 10:30 p.m. when a driver heading southbound on U.S. Highway 93 in Kalispell saw a person in the road last minute, slammed on the brakes and tried to stop, but couldn't.

The driver hit the person and then veered off the road, according to MHP, who add that a second car traveling behind the first one didn't react in time and hit the already person who was already down in the road.

Authorities say the pedestrian died after being hit, but no further details are available at this time. An investigation is underway.
