HAMILTON- A man was seriously hurt after falling from a cliff on Saturday night in Ravalli County.

Dispatchers received a call from another hiker who was with the victim at around 9:30 p.m., reporting the man had fallen off a 40 to 50 foot cliff in the Florence area near the Sweeney Creek Trail Head.

Ravalli County Sheriff Chris Hoffman says Life Flight was unable to land in the area, but crew members were able to hike in to the man's location with 4 search and rescue members.

Malmstrom Air Force Base sent in a helicopter early Sunday morning and the man was transported to the hospital at around 10 a.m.

The 20-year-old suffered substantial injuries to his head, back, pelvis and ribs, but Hoffman says the man appears to be in stable condition.

Officials say that they also received a call of a missing hiker at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Crews found the missing person about two hours later near Corvallis and say that the hike was okay after the ordeal.
