Sunni Mergenthaler, 26, of Helena has been charged with felony criminal endangerment after allegedly throwing her 13-month-old daughter to the ground.

According to charging documents, on Aug. 8, Mergenthaler was arguing with her husband, who she is in the process of divorcing, and he was trying to get her to take the baby. Records say her husband removed a window panel from the door and shoved the child through to Mergenthaler.

Mergenthaler then allegedly threw the child, and the baby hit the ground, suffering scrapes. Witnesses called law enforcement and officers later arrested Mergenthaler at a gas station.

Child Protective Services took custody of the child and she was treated at St. Peter's Hospital.

On July 19, Mergenthaler filed for a restraining order against her husband, and on July 25, she asked the judge to dismiss it.

The restraining order was dissolved Aug. 9, one day after the incident.
