GREAT FALLS - A robbery at a Great Falls gas station Thursday took an unusual turn when a witness tried to stop the fleeing robber with his vehicle.

According to Great Falls police, the suspect entered the Holiday Station at 1020 15th St. North around 3 a.m., pointed a gun at the clerk and stole bundles of cash that were being placed in a safe.

A man drove up to the station and saw the robbery. As the robber left the station and fled on foot, the witness drove his SUV over a median to chase the suspect down, hit the suspect with the car and knocked him to the ground.

Police said the suspect got up, pointed the gun at the driver, and then limped away and got in the bed of a truck that sped away on 14th Street.

The suspect is described as between 5'8" to 5'10" tall, less than 200 pounds, and was wearing a dark hoodie with a dark bandana. The suspect escaped in a 90s blue or silver GMC or Chevy pick-up.

Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to call Great Falls police or 406-727-TIPS.
