MISSOULA - Fire officials report that the Gold Creek fire burning northeast of Missoula is holding steady at about 170 acres and is still 0% contained.
There are now nearly 250 people assigned to the blaze, including ground and air resources.
The Gold Creek and West Fork Gold Creek trailheads are closed, extending to all areas west of Gold Creek Road, north of Trail #52 (Prim Lake Trail) and east of the Main Rattlesnake Recreation Corridor. Trail #504 (Porcupine Ridge Trail) is closed.
Fire officials say an infrared flight flown Thursday night should provide firefighters a better view of where the most intense heat is and where the fire remains active so crews can provide point suppression.
Four helicopters are assigned to provide bucket drops and sling load supplies into remote areas of the fire.
