WEST GLACIER- Glacier National Park visitors should expect a 30 minute delay on Going to the Sun Road this year, but it's for a good reason.
The west side of the road will be fixed up between Avalanche and Logan Creek. Another area, between Hay Stack and Big Bend, will also be seeing road work.
The rehab work has been a multimillion dollar project that has been going on for quite sometime and park employees say they hope that all the road work will be wrapped up by 2016.
Going to the Sun Road is an engineering marvel...it's just spectacular scenery, and to be able to take your vehicle on the road at these types of heights and see the alpine scenery is just spectacular. Once the rehab work is completed I think it will be a very nice drive for everyone," Park spokeswoman Denise Germann said.
The good news is the east side of Going to the Sun Road will see no construction delays this tourism season.
Meanwhile, snow plow crews are getting closer to Logan Pass, but plowing going to the sun road has slowed down this past week as at least 16 new inches of snow have fallen.
