KALISPELL- The Flathead County Board of Health eliminated euthanizing pets from Flathead County Animal Shelter's list of services offered for a fee.
Shelter Director Cliff Bennet asked for a vote on the issue last week adding that he's never been comfortable with the policy.
The new policy states an owner could bring an animal to the shelter for a $20 fee and they would determine whether or not the animal was injured or ill.
Bennett wrote in a letter to the board stating euthanasia is best left to the Doctors of Veterinary Medicine (DVM).
Bennett told board members that in the past, he and the shelter have been criticized for running a government subsidized vet clinic.
