KALISPELL- The Flathead National Forest wants to make sure you are "bear aware" and know how to handle living in the heart of bear country. The Hungry Horse and Glacier View Ranger districts are hosting an educational Bear Fair this Saturday at the Coram Community Center.

The event will educate people on tips and tools for living in bear country, such as safety and food storage. There will be many booths set up with representatives and speakers teaching different aspects about living with the furry predators.

"What we're gonna do is provide some really good tips and tools. We often talk to people about being safe with Bears and we talk about proper food storage containers, or how to interact if you encounter a bear on a trail, but reading it and hearing about it is a little bit different than actually going somewhere where you can get some hands on experience and actually talk to some experts," Flathead National Forest spokesman Wade Muehlhoff said.

The Bear Fair is this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Community Center in Coram and it's free.
