COLUMBIA FALLS- There is still a chance the Columbia Falls Veterans home could "go private". The Montana legislature is still shuffling money around and if those funds are lost, then employees could lose their jobs.
The community and members of military groups are rallying against the privatization of the veteran's home in response to this ongoing issue and a rally set for Saturday will begin at St. Richards Catholic Church. The protesters will march down Veterans Drive toward the Veterans Home.
Mike Bennett, the Senior Vice Commander for the Veteran's of Foreign Wars said, the government should "leave the veterans alone".
"It's a travesty to begin with. For the life of me I can't understand why Senator Lewis from Helena would even support something like this, why? If It's not broke don't fix it."
The march will be Saturday at 2 p.m. and organizers hopes to draw 300 people to rally in support.
