COLUMBIA FALLS - The city's branch of the library could be moved to the Glacier Discovery Square building.
The Flathead County Library hopes to purchase the Glacier Discovery Square building and close on the property June 30.
The current City Hall location is only 4,000 square feet, and library staff said more space is needed to house books and patrons.
The library would be located on the first floor of the Glacier Discovery Square building and a community center would be located on the bottom level, expanding the available space to 7,000 square feet on each floor.
"We're really looking forward to being able to provide a more welcoming and a more innovative approach to library services, also," said Kim Crowley, Flathead County Library branch director.
In two weeks, the Flathead County Library Board will hold a joint work session with the Library Foundation, First Best Place and Columbia Falls
city officials to discuss plans to purchase the building.
