CO hunter hurt by accidental gunshot near Libby Creek

LIBBY - Authorities in Northwest Montana say a Colorado hunter is in critical condition after another hunter shot him in the leg over the weekend.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office reports they responded to the hunting accident in the Libby Creek area at around 11 a.m. on Saturday.

The 48-year-old Libby man said he accidentally shot the 60-year-old Colorado man - who he didn't know - in the upper thigh.

The Libby man applied a tourniquet above the wound and drove the injured hunter to meet up with an ambulance.

The injured hunter was taken to St. John's hospital in Libby before being taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Lincoln County Undersheriff Brent Faulkner says the victim was listed in critical condition as of Monday afternoon, and authorities are still investigating the shooting.
