BONNER- Some four-and-a-half years after the first water flowed around the old Milltown Dam, backers of the project gathered Monday to celebrate the completion of the huge restoration, as well as its impact on future generations.

It was an historic scene in the late winter 2008, when hundreds gathered to watch the first water from the Clark Fork River flow around the old dam. That was just the symbolic start to a massive restoration project costing millions of dollars that's taken years to complete.

The dam was removed, the confluence of the Clark Fork and Blackfoot rebuilt, and tons of toxic sediment were removed and permanently buried upstream.
