KALISPELL - Kalispell Police say they are investigating the death of an infant.

The Kalispell police and fire departments responded to a home on the 100 block of Seventh Avenue West at around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday for a report of an unresponsive infant.

Police say the mother was performing CPR on the 2-½-month-old child when they arrived on the scene. Paramedics took over CPR, but their efforts were unsuccessful and the infant died.

Kalispell Police say an official investigation is ongoing, pending autopsy results from the state medical examiner's office.
