BILLINGS - A Billings group has been part of what is touted as the largest and longest coordinated pro-life mobilization in history and Sunday was the final day.

The 40 Days for Life campaign started on September 22nd and for the last 40 days, 24 hours a day, about 500 people have prayed to end abortion, outside Planned Parenthood's clinic on Wicks Lane.

The group says it has had very little contact with women going into the clinic. Event participants say prayer, fasting and community outreach are all part of the 40 days.

"We've been praying for an end to abortion and for wisdom and guidance for the women who come in here who need help, who are in a crisis pregnancy," said Amy Seymour, president of Yellowstone Valley Christians for Life.

"They don't know what to do. They're scared. We pray for them. We pray for the staff, and we pray for all of us who are touched by this culture of death."

Stacey Anderson of Planned Parenthood of Montana responded to the 40 days campaign.

"In previous years, this campaign has failed to have the impact that its organizers hoped for," Anderson said. "It's intimidation and harassment tactics have not stopped Planned Parenthood from providing health care services, and it has not drawn significant media attention."

The 40 Days for Life campaign ends at midnight Sunday.
