FLORENCE- Some standout youngsters are battling for a title in Florence with the Montana State Cal Ripken 10 and under all-star Tournament is currently in full swing.
Teams from all over western Montana are playing in Florence and for most of these players, it's one of their first chances in life to win something big. But they are earning even more by spending the summer outside.
"I feel personally that it's imperative that we get them out doing things, develop their coordination, muscle skills, and the social aspect of it - the teamwork and cooperation that's involved as well as learning to follow rules, so I think it's valuable on every front," tournament director J.W. Allendorf explained.
Dinner along with a home run derby will take place Friday at 6 p.m. while the championship game is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
